Caribbean Beach
House for Rent
Welcome to
our beach house at Sundancer, a small condominium community of island-style
homes on Roatan’s north shore. Roatan offers an exceptional vacation experience
distinct from the crowded frenzy of Florida or the all-inclusive resort
compounds common to Mexico and much of the Caribbean. Both in and out of the
water, Roatan is a nature lover’s paradise. This tropical island is all about
deserted beaches, swimming in amazingly warm crystal-clear waters, and
snorkeling and
diving at
the best coral reef in the
Western Hemisphere,
which just happens to be an easy swim from the Sundancer pier. On land, enjoy
walks through tropical gardens of exotic flowering shrubs and majestic fruit and
nut trees, mountain hiking
with panoramic views around the island; and, then there is the abundance of
wildlife – monkey-la-la lizards basking in the sun, butterflies, and an amazing
diversity of birds. You don’t have to search for the wildlife either – just put
your feet up on the veranda with a book and an ice-cold Honduran beer – soon the
geckos will appear and resume their search for insects; you will see the
resident woodpeckers going back and forth to their nests in the palm trees and
curious humming birds will come within arm’s length as they conduct mid-air
inspections.
The
island holds many pleasant surprises. If you have spent time on other
Caribbean islands
– Roatan will give you “price sticker” shock of an entirely different kind.
Excellent island cuisine, including freshly caught seafood, at very reasonable
prices; a bottle of Honduran rum - $3; taxis for a couple of dollars per person;
and probably the world’s least expensive diving and PADI certification all add
up to make a Roatan vacation the best value in the Caribbean. If possible, plan
to spend a couple of weeks or a month here.
Roatan is
also exceptionally relaxed and friendly. Leave the cell phone, the laptop and
the blackberry at home – when the plane touches down be prepared to adopt Island
Time. The warm smiles and easy-going atmosphere
that greet you at the airport will follow you throughout your stay on the
island. You will be made to feel at home at Sundancer. Our Rental
Manager, will greet you at the airport and provide you with all the information
you
will need during your stay. Be sure to be part of the Sundancer tradition – fix
yourself a beverage - and make your way down to the pier for sunset cocktails.
In the evenings, you will also have the opportunity to meet Sundancer residents
and other local neighbours at the Blue Parrot Bar & Restaurant. The Blue
Parrot, located on the Sundancer property, is known for its excellent steaks and
$1 beers.
The other
pleasant surprise is that Roatan is the English-speaking corner of Honduras.
English has been spoken on the Honduran Bay Islands ever since
English pirates and soldiers came to these islands in the 1600s. Spanish is also
spoken, however, nearly all Hondurans working in the tourist industry are bilingual and
you will have no communication problems.
